On September 20, 2014, the first “Rail Transit Library” in Suzhou officially opened. Since most passengers are office workers, their pace of life is quick and information requirement is diversified, and they are skilled in the use of modern information equipment, the library is positioned as “a mini multimedia library”. Its opening time is 8:00 - 20:00 on Monday to Sunday. Covering an area of over 50 square meters, it combines the interactive media with the traditional bookshelves, and divides into three areas including newspaper and periodical reading area, information retrieval area, and multimedia demonstration area. Equipped with over 2 thousand books, over 30 kinds of newspapers and periodicals, multimedia equipment such as 4 computers for readers’ retrieval, multimedia newspaper reading machines, tablet personal computers etc., the readers can obtain sufficient daily life information and knowledges.
