Let me be your eyes: theme activities for visually impaired readers

Suzhou Library has always attached importance to providing service to the disadvantaged groups.Using the reading room for the blind as a base, Suzhou Library has organized a series of readers activities, including: (1) Reading sessions for the blind: volunteers from all walks of society interpreting masterpieces, introducing history, culture and folk customs of different places; (2) Films for the blind: providing barrier-free cultural products for visually impaired readers; (3) Help for special groups: Organizing visually impaired readers to give speeches on their own life experiences and insights, and the library will organize performances and give out books; (4) The "One on one and hand in hand" activities: organize visually impaired readers to participate in knowledge contest, essay speech contest, poetry contest, singing contest, art performances and other activities; (5) "Go outdoors and feel the world" activities: organize visits for visually impaired readers, help them to know the world and environment out there; (6) Trainings for visually impaired readers: Braille training, computer and software (software for the visually impaired) training, massage, English and Japanese language trainings and other trainings to help them get skills; (7) Suzhou Lecture Hall -- Sunshine lecture hall: engage experts and scholars for face-to-face communication with disabled readers, aiming to provide better quality cultural services for disabled readers.
