Rules for book borrowing lending

Article 1 This room is a circulation room for adult, readers can enter with the readers card or Suzhou citizen A card / B card (with the book borrowing function activated). One card is for one reader only and readers below 16 please go to the Children' Hall.

Article 2 A total of 10 books and 2 journals (a total value of less than 500 Yuan) can be checked out for each card.

Article 3 The opening hours: 9:00~21:00 (also open on holidays). Under special circumstances, please see the notices in the library.

Article 4 This room is for open-shelf borrowing, and the readers can select the books by themselves. If you do not intend to borrow any books, please put them back into the same place.

Article 5 Before book-lending, please carefully check the books for damage and missing pages, any such problems found shall be reported to the staff in time.

Article 6 The loan period for books and combined volumes of outdated journals is 30 days, which can be renewed twice with 10 days for each renewal. For manual service, please go to the service desk in this room, for self-service, please use Suzhou Library website, Shuxiang Suzhou APP, auto book lending and returning machine, WeChat public number of Suzhou Library. For books or outdated journals overdue, a late fee of 0.05 Yuan/day for each book will be charged. The borrowing period for current journals is 15 days (not to be extended), the late fee is 0.05 Yuan/day for each journal if it is overdue.

Article 7 Please take good care of the books during borrowing period; and the readers shall be responsible for compensation in case of lost or damaged books. The compensation shall be 2-10 times of the original price as the book publishing situation may be. In case of damages of books (including interior markings, stains, cutting or tearing, damping, contamination, serious folding, scribing or tearing up), depending on the seriousness, the compensation may be as follows:

1.  In case of any damages to the book's text, illusions or schedules which are not able to be recovered, the book shall be handled as missing;

2. In case of damages to the book which can be recovered, the reader shall repair the book. If the library repairs the book for  the  reader, the cost shall be paid by the reader at 50% of the book price. In case of damages to the books' chips, the reader shall be fined with 5 Yuan/ book.

Article 8 In case of deliberate damage on books or stealing books, the compensation shall be more than 10 times the book price.

Article 9 Please keep your bags in the self-service storage counter or at the main service counter. Please do not bring in food, beverages or books (print) and keep the room clean.

Article 10 All commercial activities are refused in this room.
