24-hour self-service library
The 24-hour self-service library uses the Radio
Frequency Identification System (FRID) for 24 hours of unattended intelligent
management. It has a collection of over 10,000 books. Through the self-service
borrow/return machine, the readers can borrow and return the books by scanning
the cards and the books. All holders of library card of Suzhou Library can
enter for free reading and free borrowing/returning of books. After this is
started, it will embody the extended service in the full sense, including
expansion in library service time, space and region, resources and library
network. The main functions include:
Book borrowing function:
The reader can put the book he/she wants to borrow in the dedicated area on the self-service machine and click the book-borrowing button, and put the library card in the scanning area at the same time, then the book title will be displayed on the screen, and the borrowing process is finished.
Book returning function:
On the outer wall of the 24-hour self-service library, there is an outdoor 24-hour self-service book-returning machine. All the readers only need to put the book into the book entrance on the machine, and the book is returned automatically.
Self-service library card issuing function:
On the outer wall of the 24-hour self-service library, there is a 24-hour self-service library card issuing machine. The readers can use their ID cards and make a deposit of 50 Yuan, and a library card will be provided by the machine automatically (currently cards for children are not available from this machine).
Reading function
The 24-hour self-service library is provided with the latest journals, magazines and newspapers, and a certain number of seats are provided for readers.
Digital resource searching function:
The 24-hour self-service library provides a touch screen device and four computers for readers to use, and readers can access the Internet, collection of data resources from Suzhou Library and National Library and other resources.
Wireless Internet access:
Wireless Internet access is available in the 24-hour self-service library, after entering their library card number and the password, the readers can access the Internet with their own intelligentterminal equipment.
Online borrowing and self-service book collection:
A group of lockers (including 36 bookcases) are installed in the 24-hour self-service library. The readers can borrow the book online and set the 24-hour self-service library as the delivery point, and then he/she can come to scan the library card and collect the book any time.
